Riverside Zoning Virtual Public Workshop

Welcome to the Virtual Public Workshop for the Village of Riverside's Transit Supportive Zoning Code Update.  We invite you to use the interactive map to share your thoughts on how potential zoning updates can help make Riverside's Central Business District (CBD) and Harlem Avenue more walkable and supportive of transit.  This includes preparing Harlem Avenue for future rapid transit service via Pace's Pulse initiative. This project is receiving funding and technical support from the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA).

Check out the informational materials on the left sidebar of the map, as well as the red and green information markers pinned on the map.

How do I participate?

To learn how to leave comments on the map, click here for a step-by-step guide of instructions.

What issues should I consider?

Below are a few questions to keep in mind as you share your thoughts.  You may either answer any of these questions or use them as starting points to prompt your own thoughts.  You may also click on the red and green information markers pinned on the map for additional issues to consider.

  • What attracts you to downtown or Harlem Avenue?
  • What keeps you from visiting downtown or Harlem Avenue?
  • What is keeping the downtown from being more pedestrian or bike friendly?
  • What would make you feel more comfortable walking or biking along Harlem Avenue?
  • Are there certain intersections or sites that raise concerns (e.g., car/pedestrian/bike conflicts, code enforcement, parking, site access, etc.)?
  • What are appropriate maximum building heights in the downtown and Harlem Avenue? (measured by # of stories or height in feet)
  • What residential types are appropriate for the downtown and Harlem Avenue? (e.g., single-family homes, apartments, condos, townhouses, duplexes, triplexes, live/work spaces, etc.)

How long is the workshop?

This web-based workshop will be operational for a seven-day period, starting on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, and closing at the end of the day on Monday, October 19, 2020.

How often can I comment?

Come back as many times as you like and as your time allows.  Your feedback will help the Village understand which zoning and transit issues are important to the community.
